Weite Welt 2003

Weite Welt

Tasting

Inky ruby-red color with exuberant core, heavy legs, violet hues; the nose is redolent of black berries with traces of delicate herbal spice, After Eight mints and coconut chocolate; appealing and three dimensional. On the palate this is dry with fine fruit sweetness and a nice tannin structure; lush and succulent, spicy, vanilla, discreet smoky notes; good stuff, artistic and expressive.

Pairing

Meditation wine in red, in concrete terms: venison steak with pepper crust, Sibratsgfäl mountain cheese, along with the family chronicles.

Making

Hand-picked  second week of October 2003 by hand into small boxes, the major part comes from the single vineyard KRAXNER (tea-green marl on slate subsoil).Destemming, closed fermentation for 10 days at 31°C, post-fermentation maceration for 8 days, gentle pressing, malolactic fermentation and aging in small oak barrels (50% new).
